Sending a Test SMTP Email

PROCESS:

Knowledgebase uses the IIS SMTP Server settings to send notification emails to users of the system. If users are not receiving notification emails it is possible that there may be problems with the SMTP server sending email. One of the first troubleshooting steps for email should be to check that the SMTP server is operating as expected.

Microsoft Support has published an article that will walk you through the process of sending a test email through an IIS SMTP Server using telnet. The Microsoft Support article may be viewed here.

AFFECTED SYSTEMS & USERS:

Knowledgebase administrators wishing to test that theĀ IIS SMTP Server is able to send email.

This article applies to non-hosted Knowledgebase installations only.
