Social Media Links Broken in Portal Style 4

THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:

Knowledgebase 9.0 through 9.0.1 Hotfix 4

ISSUE DESCRIPTION:

Article links to Social Media sites   (Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Delicious) do not open the linked article correctly.

ROOT CAUSE:

The links generated when using the Social Media buttons  are malformed and do not include a portal identifier. For example, the link is shared as http://192.168.150.130:8080/kb/article?ArticleId=3871 instead of
http://192.168.150.130:8080/kb/article?ArticleId=3871&source=Article&c=12&cid=52.

This means the link takes you to the default portal instead of the portal from which you linked the article. If the article is not accessible from the default portal, the article won't be displayed at all. If the default portal requires a login, then anyone following the link will be redirected to the login page (even if the linked article is on an open portal).

SOLUTION OR WORK AROUND:

The link formatting is corrected in version 9.0.1 Hotfix 4 (and later).

AFFECTED SYSTEMS & USERS:

Any users who attempt to share article links from a Portal Style 4 portal via one of the Social Media buttons  in Knowledgebase 9.0 prior to Hotfix 4.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This issue was investigated as product bug #19913 and has been corrected in version 9.0.1 Hotfix 4 (and later).
