Error: Do you want to display the nonsecure items

THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:

All Knowledgebase versions

ISSUE DESCRIPTION:

After applying a new Knowledgebase hot fix customers accessing the Portal receive a message asking "Do you want to display the nonsecure items?"

ROOT CAUSE:

This is caused by mixing secure "SSL Enabled" content (https://) with unsecure content (http://).

If the customer selects "Yes", the SSL padlock will disappear meaning the website is no longer a secure website for them.  If the end user selects “No”, then the customer web site will stay secure, however content may not be displayed correctly - the unsecure elements will not be loaded.

SOLUTION OR WORK AROUND:

You must change your browser settings to avoid this issue.

  1. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools then Internet Options and select Security.
  2. On the Security tab, click the Custom Level button.
  3. Under the Miscellaneous section change “Display mixed content” to Enable.

Note: Additionally if you have a group policy browser setting initiated by your system administrator then he must make the browser changes for all the users on his side in order to correct this issue.

    AFFECTED SYSTEMS & USERS:

Knowledgebase end users utilizing Internet Explorer.
