Search Results Displaying ... for Search Summary

THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:

All versions of Knowledgebase

ISSUE DESCRIPTION:

When searching for articles the articles display with ... for the search summary, rather than the full summary for each article.

ROOT CAUSE:

This is caused when the KBdata folder is moved to a new location on the server, and the knowledgebase meta-data files (.kb) are not updated to point at the new location. This means that the autonomy search engine cannot locate the content file for each article to generate a search summary

SOLUTION OR WORK AROUND:

Running the generatekbfiles utility will regenerate the .KB files for every article, and correct this issue. To run this utility, open a command box window on the application server and browse to the following location

[Drive]:\Program Files\Knowledgebase.net\tools\GenerateKBFile

Next, run the command generatekbfiles.exe n (where n is the client ID for your Knowledgebase install; typically 12)

Once this has completed, you must then run an autonomy reset to allow autonomy to reindex the search summary information correctly. See this article for instructions on how to perform an autonomy reset.

AFFECTED SYSTEMS & USERS:

Knowledgebase administrators
