Importing Documents with Security Settings

All versions of Knowledgebase.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION:

The import of documents with security settings and/or macros will fail. The upload process will eventually time out.

ROOT CAUSE:

Documents with security settings and documents with macros cannot be converted to HTML. They can also not be searched as they cannot be indexed by the search engine.

Additionally, in certain versions of the Knowledgebase application, the import process performs the conversion at the same time as the article is imported and may result in time outs.

SOLUTION OR WORK AROUND:

If you are importing a document protected by security settings (password protected, etc), you will need to remove the security settings from the document and re-upload. Otherwise the document will not import correctly.
