Article Link in Article Subscription Emails is Incorrect

THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:

All versions of Knowledgebase.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION:

Links within subscription emails do not work correctly.

ROOT CAUSE:

The URL link that is inserted is not correct.

SOLUTION OR WORK AROUND:

  1. Log in to the KB Admin Control Panel.
  2. Click on the Portal tab.
  3. Click on the name of the Portal.
  4. Click on Configure within Website Integration.
  5. Go to Option 4: Direct Link to URL.
  6. Click on any article.
  7. The URL to the article will appear i.e. http://ipaddressorhostname/article.asp?article=1041&p=1 (where 1041 is the article id).
  8. Copy the URL that appears in to Notepad.
  9. Change the Article number to – in our example above we would replace 1041 with as shown in the image below.


  10. After you have replaced the article number with the variable, paste it into the e-mail article template for subscription.
  11. Ensuing e-mail subscriptions will now be properly linked.
