Microsoft Office Files Do Not Convert After Server Restart

THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:
ISSUE DESCRIPTION:
Microsoft Office files do not convert to HTML after a server reboot.
ROOT CAUSE:
The "convertToHtml.dll" service is not activating when the server is rebooted for some installations.
SOLUTION OR WORK AROUND:
- Log into your Knowledgebase application server with an Administrator level account.
- Click the START button, then select RUN.
- Type "CMD" in the RUN dialog box. Press ENTER which will bring up a DOS prompt.
- Copy and Paste the following line into command line:
regsvr32 x:\knowledgebase\applicationprogram\comobjects\Import\converter\convertToHtml.dll
press ENTER.
Note: Make sure there is a space between "regserv32" and "x:\". x is the hard drive where the Knowledgebase was installed.
This will enable the convertToHtml service.
AFFECTED SYSTEMS & USERS:
Knowledgebase Internal Users attempting to convert files created with Microsoft Office to HTML.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This issue is not found in Knowledgebase version 9.0 and later, which do not utilize the same COM+ objects found in prior versions.
