Internet Explorer 7 Cut and Paste Does Not Work in Knowledgebase

ISSUE DESCRIPTION:

When using Internet Explorer 7 you may not be able to use the cut and paste features in the Knowledgebase WYSIWYG editor.

ROOT CAUSE:

Due to security concerns, Microsoft has disabled the cut and paste feature in Internet Explorer 7. This was done to protect the users' sorted data on the clipboard.

SOLUTION OR WORK AROUND:

You can disable this behavior in Internet Explorer 7:

  1. In Internet Explorer 7, select Tools in the menu bar.
  2. Select Internet Options and click on the Security tab. 
  3. Press the Custom Level… button.
  4. In the Security Settings – Internet Zone window, find the Scripting section.
  5. Enable 'Allow Programmatic clipboard access.'
  6. You may need to restart Internet Explorer 7 for the changes to take effect.

AFFECTED SYSTEMS & USERS:

Knowledgebase users attempting to use cut and paste functionality in the WYSIWYG editor when accessing the Admin Control Panel with Internet Explorer 7.
