Knowledgebase will not Accept New Registration Key

ISSUE DESCRIPTION:

Entering the license key into the Knowledgebase Registration Utility results in the message: “An error occurred registering the key. Cannot create ActiveX component.”

ROOT CAUSE:

The scrunn.dll and scrobj.dll have not been registered properly.

SOLUTION OR WORK AROUND:

  1. Log in to the Knowledgebase server using an account with administration privileges.
  2. Click the Start button and then Run...  In the Run Dialog, type CMD.
  3. Navigate to the SYSTEM32 folder in the Windows directory. Usually this is x:\windows\system32 where x is the drive where Windows is installed.
  4. Type “regsvr32 scrrun.dll” and hit [ENTER].
  5. Type “regsvr32 scrobj.dll” and hit [ENTER].

You should now be able to complete the registration process.
