Knowledgebase will not Accept New Registration Key

THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:
All versions of Knowledgebase.
ISSUE DESCRIPTION:
Entering the license key into the Knowledgebase Registration Utility results in the message: “An error occurred registering the key. Cannot create ActiveX component.”
ROOT CAUSE:
The scrunn.dll and scrobj.dll have not been registered properly.
SOLUTION OR WORK AROUND:
- Log in to the Knowledgebase server using an account with administration privileges.
- Click the Start button and then Run... In the Run Dialog, type CMD.
- Navigate to the SYSTEM32 folder in the Windows directory. Usually this is x:\windows\system32 where x is the drive where Windows is installed.
- Type “regsvr32 scrrun.dll” and hit [ENTER].
- Type “regsvr32 scrobj.dll” and hit [ENTER].
You should now be able to complete the registration process.
