Manually Run the ToolAspToAspx Tool

Follow these steps to run the ToolAspToAspx tool during an upgrade from Knowledgebase 7.x to version 8.x if instructed by Moxie Software Product Support.

Before Running the ToolAspToAspx tool

1. Log into the Knowledgebase application server where the upgrade package has been extracted.
2. Verify that your login account has full read/write permission to the kbdata directory and its subdirectories.
3. Back up the kbdata directory and subdirectories.
4. Navigate to the tools directory within the Knowledgebase upgrade package directory. For this example we will use C:\upgrade\tools\
5. Verify that both ToolAspToAspx.bat and ToolAspToAspx.exe are present in the tools directory.
6. If ToolAspToAspx.bat is not present download the file attached to this article and extract it.

Run the ToolAspToAspx tool

1. Click the Start button and Click Run.
2. Type CMD and press [ENTER].
3. A Command Prompt window will open.
4. Type C: and press [ENTER] (substitute the proper drive for the location of the upgrade package).
5. Type CD upgrade\tools and press [ENTER] (substitute the proper upgrade package directory for your server).
6. Type ToolAspToAspx.bat "PATH TO YOUR KBDATA DIRECTORY" Where PATH TO YOUR KBDATA DIRECTORY is the full path to the kbdata folder.

To enable logging during the conversion use the ">AspToAspx.log" option.

In our example we would type the following to run the tool with logging: ToolAspToAspx.bat "c:\kbdata" >AspToAspx.log

Press [ENTER] to run the tool.

The Command Prompt window will scroll through the files as the ToolAspToAspx tool makes the needed updates. Do not close the Command Prompt window while this is in process. This process may take some time depending on the number of articles in your Knowledgebase.

On completion you will see a prompt that says:

C:\upgrade\tools>goto DONE

The Asp to Aspx conversion is complete and you may now close the Command Prompt window.
