Passing a Query String or User Credentials Through a Direct Portal URL
THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:
PROCESS:
- Login to the KB Admin Control Panel.
- Click on the Portal tab.
- Select the appropriate Portal.
- Click “Configure” in Website Integration.
- Copy the url in Option 2. It will look something like this: http://YOUR DOMAIN/?cid=7&c=12&cpc=oY12
The first section of the URL above "http://YOUR DOMAIN/" refers to the IP address or the DNS name of the server. The second section "?cid=7&c=12&cpc=oY12" refers to the actual portal.
Search String Example for an Open Portal:
To include a search string in the URL of a open Portal, add the red text as shown:
http://YOUR DOMAIN/search.aspx?searchtype=allwords&searchby=keywords&cid=7&c=12&cpc=oY12&searchstring="SEARCHSTRING"
Search String Example for a Secure Portal:
To include a search string in the URL of a secure or personalized Portal, add the red text as shown:
http://YOUR DOMAIN/search.aspx?searchtype=allwords&searchby=keywords&cid=7&c=12&cpc=oY12&searchstring="SEARCHSTRING"&un="USERNAME"&pw="PASSWORD"
NOTE:It should be noted that terms inside of quotations like "SEARCHSTRING", "USERNAME" or "PASSWORD" require that you replace them with a search term and or credentials as the case may be and remove the quotation marks.
