How to Set Up User Access to the Check Search Engine Health Tool Without Access to the Knowledgebase Application Server

THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:

Knowledgebase versions 8.3.2.21.3 and later

PROCESS:

The Check Search Engine Health tool in the Knowledgebase Admin Control Panel allows for quickly obtaining the status of the search engine and its required processes. By default the Check Search Engine Health tool is only set to be accessed directly from the Application Server that the search engine is installed on. Users on other machines will receive a "Cannot display the webpage" error message.

Access to the Check Search Engine Health tool can be granted to workstations on a per IP address basis. To grant access step through the following when logged into the Application Server that Autonomy is installed on as a user with full Administrator rights.

Note: The actual IP addresses displayed in the server's configuration will likely be different than shown below. The IP addresses should be listed comma separated without spaces. Additionally, the path to Autonomy config files may vary depending on where the Autonomy Search Engine has been installed.

Step One - Update AutonomyDiSH.cfg

  1. Navigate to [DRIVE]:\Program Files\Knowledgebase.Net\Autonomy\IDOLServer\DiSH ([DRIVE]:\Program Files\Knowledgebase.Net
  2. Backup the AutonomyDiSH.cfg file
  3. Edit AutonomyDiSH.cfg in Notepad
  4. Add the workstation IP address to the following sections of the config file
    [Service]
    ServiceStatusClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
    ServiceControlClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
    [Server]
    AdminClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
  5. Save and close the AutonomyDiSH.cfg file

Step Two - Update AutonomyIDOLServer.cfg

  1. Navigate to [DRIVE]:\Program Files\Knowledgebase.Net\Autonomy\IDOLServer\IDOL ([DRIVE]:\Program Files\Knowledgebase.Net
  2. Backup the AutonomyIDOLServer.cfg file
  3. Edit AutonomyIDOLServer.cfg in Notepad
  4. Add the workstation IP address to the following sections of the config file
    [Service]
    ServiceStatusClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
    ServiceControlClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
    [Server]
    QueryClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
    AdminClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
    IndexClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
  5. Save and close the AutonomyIDOLServer.cfg file

Step Three - Update agentstore.cfg

  1. Navigate to [DRIVE]:\Program Files\Knowledgebase.Net\Autonomy\IDOLServer\IDOL\agentstore ([DRIVE]:\Program Files\Knowledgebase.Net
  2. Backup the agentstore.cfg file
  3. Edit agentstore.cfg in Notepad
  4. Add the workstation IP address to the following sections of the config file
    [Service]
    ServiceStatusClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
    ServiceControlClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
    [Server]
    QueryClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
    AdminClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
    IndexClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
  5. Save and close the agentstore.cfg file

Step Four - Update AutonomyFileSystemFetch.cfg

  1. Navigate to [DRIVE]:\Program Files\Knowledgebase.Net\Autonomy\IDOLServer\FileSystemFetch ([DRIVE]:\Program Files\Knowledgebase.Net
  2. Backup the AutonomyFileSystemFetch.cfg file
  3. Edit AutonomyFileSystemFetch.cfg in Notepad
  4. Add the workstation IP address to the following sections of the config file
    [Service]
    ServiceStatusClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
    ServiceControlClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
  5. Save and close the AutonomyFileSystemFetch.cfg file

Step Five - Update AutonomyHTTPFetch.cfg

  1. Navigate to [DRIVE]:\Program Files\Knowledgebase.Net\Autonomy\IDOLServer\HTTPFetch ([DRIVE]:\Program Files\Knowledgebase.Net
  2. Backup the AutonomyHTTPFetch.cfg file
  3. Edit AutonomyHTTPFetch.cfg in Notepad
  4. Add the workstation IP address to the following sections of the config file
    [Service]
    ServiceStatusClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
    ServiceControlClients=127.0.0.1,192.168.125.15
  5. Save and close the AutonomyHTTPFetch.cfg file

Step Six - Run Autonomy Reset

Once Autonomy Reset completes it may take Autonomy a few minutes to fully restart.

Users should now be able to access the Search Engine Health Status tool from the Knowledgebase Admin Control Panel on the workstation with the added IP address.

Knowledgebase Administrators wishing to add access to the Search Engine Health Check tool from workstations other than the Autonomy Application Server

This article applies to non-hosted Knowledgebase installations only.

The Check Search Engine Health tool is not available to users of Hosted Knowledgebase implementations.
