THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:
All versions of Knowledgebase
PROCESS:
While it is not possible to set the expiration date of multiple articles at once, it is possible to set an expiration date for published articles one at a time, even if an expiration date was not set on initial creation. To do so, step through the following:
- Log into the Knowledgebase Admin Control Panel as an Administrator.
- In Article Management go to the properties of an article that you wish to expire.
- Click the link next to Expiration.
- Click the option to select an Expiration date and choose the date that you wish the article to expire. To immediately expire an article choose today's date.
- Click Save.
- If you've chosen a date in the future no further action is required, as the article status will automatically update to expired on the specified date.
- If you wish the article to expire immediately, continue with the following steps.
- Log into the Knowledgebase application server as a user who has full administrator rights.
- Click Start and then Run.
- Type tasks and press OK.
- Right-click and choose Run for the following Scheduled Tasks, one at a time in the listed order.
- KBMaintenance will update the workflow status of the article within the KB Admin Control Panel.
- KBArticleUpdate will change status of the .kb file to expired, removing it from search results.
-
KBArticleAlert will send the expiration notification email to users set to receive them.
Once the Scheduled tasks have run the articles will then show as Expired in the Knowledgebase.
