Autonomy Disk Space Requirements

THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:

Knowledgebase versions 8.1 and later.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION:

Question: "How much disk space is needed for Autonomy?" when setting up the Admin server for their Knowledgebase 8.1 (or later) deployment.

ROOT CAUSE:

SOLUTION OR WORK AROUND:

The general drive space requirements equation for KB is:

Autonomy installation (5gb) + Caching ((content size x2)+5) + Minimum Free Space (5gb) + Content Size (size of the articles published directory within the KBData directory) + KB Installation files (.5gb) + Future growth of content (10% of the Content Size) = Total drive space needed.

Here's an example of appropriate disk space allotment for a KB with 30gb of content.

As you can see in this example, if you have 30gb of content in the Articles Published directory you will need to allot at least 108.5gb of total drive capacity for the Knowledgebase instance. Please note that this does not include space used by Windows Server and SQL Server.

AFFECTED SYSTEMS & USERS:

Knowledgebase Administrators who are attempting to determine disk space requirements for Knowledgebase version 8.1 and later.
