KB Admin Config Tool Fails to Create Admin Portal & Autonomy Folders for Searching

THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:

All KB versions from 8.1.1 up to KB 8.3.2 hotfix 1

ISSUE DESCRIPTION:

KB Admin Config tool fails to create Admin portal and Autonomy folders for searching this applies to all KB versions when upgrading to KB 8.3.2 or fresh installations and not utilizing the default drive of “C” to install the KB admin portal installation.


KB admin error message received:

The utility throws up an ambiguous error on the Applications panel – “error creating application”.

KB 8.3.2 Hotfix 2

Also the files to fix this issue are attached.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Add the two following files from the attached (Steup_admin.zp) to the folder on the KB application server:

Before replacing these files go to the following path and back up these files prior to copying the new files over them in case a roll back to this fix is needed.

(Diskdrive):\Program Files\Knowledgebase.Net\setup

Files to replace are:

* setup_admin.exe

* setup_admin.pdb

Once these files are replaced then go ahead and rerun the Admin.cofig tool from the Programs menu and it will run fine. Now it is possible to change where the Admin and Autonomy folders install instead of having to utilize the default install which is "C" drive.
