Custom Style Sheets are Not Appled to the Customer Portal when Viewed in Firefox

THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:

Versions of Knowledgebase prior to 8.3.2

ISSUE DESCRIPTION:

Articles created using custom Style Sheets (CSS) that were originally encoded in a format other than Unicode do not display properly in Mozilla Firefox.  These same articles will display as expected in Internet Explorer.

ROOT CAUSE:

When a custom CSS file is originally created it can be saved using one of several different text encoding formats.  The most common encoding formats are UTF-8, ANSI, and UNICODE.  Some versions of Firefox may not properly display articles which are created using custom CSS files that have been encoded in a format other than UNICODE.

SOLUTION OR WORK AROUND:

  1. Download the style sheet to the desktop of the computer.
  2. Open the style sheet in Notepad.
  3. Click on File > Save As
  4. At the bottom of the Save As dialog box there will be an option to set Encoding
  5. Click the drop down and select Unicode
  6. Save and re-upload the Custom Style Sheet to the Customer Portal
