Disabling Session Time Out for Customer Portal

THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:

Knowledgebase version 9.0.1 Hot Fix 1 and later Portal Style 4 only.

PROCESS:

To effectively eliminate the session time out for Portal Style 4 customer portals, we have included a new feature (since 9.0.1 Hot Fix 1) that allows you to keep sessions alive automatically in the customer portal. This new feature allows the user to continue to have an active session as long as they leave the portal open within a browser window.
To enable this feature:
  1. Log into the Admin Panel with an Administrator level account.
  2. Click the Portal tab.
  3. Click the Name of the portal you wish to adjust.
  4. Click Configure under Security & Access Options.
  5. Check the box for Keep session alive.
  6. Click Save.

AFFECTED SYSTEMS & USERS:

When this feature is enabled, portal users will no longer experience session time outs as long as the browser window (in which the portal is open) is not closed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The session keep alive functionality is only for customer portals.
