Instant Publisher from Knowledgebase 9.0.3 results in error on upload on Windows XP machine
THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:
ISSUE DESCRIPTION:
1. Log in to local work station running XP with SP 3 and make sure it does not have Instant Publisher installed
2. Log in to the admin panel.
3. On the homepage find the downloads area
4. Download instant publisher
5. Unzip it
6. Install it on the local workstation and try to use it... it will fail with an error
Instant Publisher Error message: KBupload.exe – Common Language Runtime Debugging Services
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process id=0x870(2160), Thread=0x3a0(928)
This issue specific to the one of the Microsoft common DLLs which is missing on the client machine.
RESOLVED IN:
Then the issue can be resolved by putting the two dlls into the following location of the local end user XP machine where the instant publisher is installed.
Location: “<Drive>:\Program Files\KnowledgeBase.net\Instant Publisher” folder
dll Name: Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility.dll
dll Name: stdole.dll
