.NET Version 4.5.2 Causes Installation Error for Moxie Knowledge Version 9.4

THIS ARTICLE APPLIES TO:

Moxie Knowledge version 9.4 HF1 or HF2. This issue does not apply to 9.4.3 (HF3).

ISSUE DESCRIPTION:

All new installations and upgrades to Moxie Knowledge version 9.4 HF1 or HF2 fail when .NET version 4.5.2 is installed on the server.
 

ROOT CAUSE:

Moxie advises against installing Microsoft patch #KB2901983 for Windows Server 2008 R2 and #KB2901982 for Windows Server 2012 prior to installing Moxie Knowledge version 9.4 HF1 or HF2. Both of these patches upgrade the .NET framework to version 4.5.2.
 

SOLUTION OR WORK AROUND:

If either of these Microsoft patches have been applied, or the server has otherwise been upgraded to .NET version 4.5.2, the patch or upgrade should be uninstalled/rolled back. After the uninstall/rollback the .NET framework will revert to version 4.5.1 and the installation of Moxie Knowledge version 9.4 can proceed successfully.

Once Moxie Knowledge version 9.4 has been installed on the server, the appropriate Microsoft patch (#KB2901983 for Windows Server 2008 R2 and #KB2901982 for Windows Server 2012) can be applied and the .NET version upgraded to .NET 4.5.2 without any impact to Moxie Knowledge.

AFFECTED SYSTEMS & USERS:

Knowledge Administrators planning to install or upgrade to Moxie Knowledge version 9.4 HF1 or HF2. This issue does not occur when installing 9.4.3 (HF3).
