KB 10 Custom Email Domains

Using a custom email address with Moxie Knowledge enables emails to be sent from your domain instead of Moxie’s domain. This is an optional step that is only required if you wish to brand the emails sent from Moxie Knowledge with your own domain. For example, a notification for an article pending approval can be sent from administrator@yourcompany.com instead of donotreply@kb.net.

To use a custom email domain with Moxie Knowledge you will need to work with your DNS administrator to define a SPF record and set up secure DKIM keys. Please note, if you use a custom email address without also setting up SPF and DKIM, your emails will not be sent.

To start this process, please contact Moxie Support with the email domain that you’d like to use with Moxie Knowledge. Then follow the instructions below:

Define your SPF record

An SPF record identifies the mail servers and domains that are allowed to send email on behalf of your domain. Receiving servers check your SPF record to verify that incoming messages that appear to be from your organization are sent from servers allowed by you.

Your DNS administrator will need to add “spf.gomoxie.cloud” to your domain’s SPF record.

Set Up Secure DKIM Keys

Use the DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) key feature to let Moxie sign outbound email sent on your company’s behalf. DKIM adds an encrypted signature to the header of all outgoing messages. Email servers that get signed messages use DKIM to decrypt the message header, and verify the message was not changed after it was sent.

Moxie will provide you with a “DKIM selector” and “Proposed DNS Entry” which your DNS administrator will use to complete the DKIM setup.

Once this step has been completed, please update Moxie support and our Cloud Services team will complete the final testing.

Update Moxie Knowledge

Once Moxie has confirmed your custom email address, the final step is to update Moxie Knowledge.

In the Knowledge Administration Console, navigate to the System Settings screen and provide your custom email address in the “KB System Email Address” field.

In the Portal Administration Console, for all “Private” portals, navigate to the portal "settings" screen and provide your custom email address in the “Portal Email Address” field.
