Knowledgebase Instant Publisher Configuration and Usage

ISSUE DESCRIPTION:

Setup and use Knowledgebase Instant Publisher in a Windows environment.

ROOT CAUSE:

Ready to publish knowledgebase articles from your desktop? Here is how to setup and use the Instant Publisher.

SOLUTION OR WORK AROUND:

  1. Download Instant Publisher from the download area in your admin control panel.  If you do not see a download area please contact your knowledgebase administrator.  If you are the administrator please see this article.

    Once Instant Publisher is installed, right-click on a document that you would like to upload to your Knowledgebase. Choose Upload to Knowledgebase. The first time you attempt this, you will be prompted to enter the settings for your Knoweldgebase server:



  2. Enter your Knowledgebase user name and password.  This account must be an internal user who can add articles to the Knowledgebase.
  3. Under the server information area, type in your Knowledgebase Admin Panel Server domain name or IP address and Port.  For example, the 'KB admin Server' may be mykb.sample.com and the 'KB admin Port' may be 81.



  4. Click OK

You will now be able to continue to upload the file by filling out the Instant Publisher form.

Guest Usage: Use the following instructions to change your username and password if you are using a computer that has Instant Publisher previously installed for another user. This will ensure that the proper permissions are used.

  1. Right-click the desired document as above.

  2. Choose Upload to Knowledgebase.



    Choosing Upload to Knowledgebase will open up the following window.



  3. Click Tools then Options. The settings screen will appear.




Enter your username and password. Click OK when done. This will allow you to upload files with your permissions. The original user of the computer will need to repeat these steps to reset their username and password after you are finished.

Knowledgebase users attempting to use Instant Publisher.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Please note that non-hosted customers and dedicated hosted customers can utilize the Instant Publisher.

However, shared hosted versions of the Knowledgebase are not eligible to utilize the Instant publisher tool.
